Call Your Senators: Vote No on Devos
ACTION ALERT: If one more Republican Senator votes against Trump’s far-right education pick Betsy DeVos, we'll defeat her confirmation!
Billionaire DeVos has said never attended a public school or sent her kids to one. She’s funded anti-LGBTQ groups, questioned whether kids with special needs require federal protection, and said we need guns in schools to protect from grizzly bears!
Here are the Republican Senators most likely to vote against DeVos. Call them using our the script below as a guide -- we’ve tailored it specifically to appeal to Republicans!
Sen. Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania): (202) 224-4254

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (West Virginia): 304-347-5372
Sen. Jerry Moran (Kansas): (316) 631-1410
Here’s the script (if you don’t live in the state that a senator represents, you DON’T have to give them your address or tell them which state you’re from). If you don’t get through to a staffer, leave a message!
My name is ________ and I’m calling to ask the senator to vote against the nomination of Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary. DeVos has taken a number of stances that will hurt kids with special needs and hurt rural families.
DeVos has displayed an alarming lack of knowledge when it comes to protecting disabled students and students with special needs such as autism and Down Syndrome. She has also questioned whether the federal government should enforce the crucial Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
I’m also worried that DeVos will create federal voucher programs, which would make it harder for rural families to access high-quality education. Understandably, many rural voters are worried that if the federal government stops focusing on public education, it will hurt kids in areas without access to private or charter schools.
For special needs students and rural families, I urge the senator to vote against Betsy Devos for Education Secretary. Thank you.
