On October 12, Melecio Andazola Morales, an undocumented American living in Denver, went to a government interview with his daughter as part of the process of getting his green card. The meeting turned out to be a trap. After intentionally separating him from his daughter, a US citizen, authorities took Mr. Andazola Morales into custody pending deportation hearings. To detain a dedicated community member and father of four with no criminal record in such a deceitful way may seem beyond comprehension, but this the state of immigration enforcement under Trump.

Mr. Andazola Morales’s daughter, Viviana, is a senior at Yale. She and friends have started the #FreeMelecio movement to demand his immediate release. You can help by:

  1. CALLING Jeffrey Lynch (Field Director at DHS ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations). Get the instructions here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17zNEBjkZjO-AziJFpoZNehcmG0KcaYjpq-TmrIo8M3o/edit

  2. EMAILING Jeffrey Lynch using pages 3 and 4 of the above script.
