BLACK LIVES MATTER: NEW YORK POLICY TOOLKIT AND NATIONAL ACTION TOOLKIT
Coalition Z supports the Black Lives Matter movement. We have partnered on protests on the East and West Coast and have launched toolkits for those who want to take action from home. Our first toolkit addresses the repeal of 50a in New York State, and can be found here. Our second, made in partnership with Teens Resist, is an all-encompassing Police Reform in New York legislative toolkit, which can be found here. Our third toolkit addresses National Black Lives Matter Legislation in Congress and can be found here. We have held emergency zoom phone banks for all three of these resources and continue to update them regularly.
BOOKCLUB AND READING LISTS
To build community and foster learning while at home in Quarantine, Coalition Z has launched a weekly bookclub and sends out weekly reading lists in our Newsletters. Our first book was Optimism Over Despair by Noam Chomsky and we are currently reading Why We’re Polarized by Ezra Klein. To join the bookclub, fill out this form. To receive our reading lists, sign up to get our newsletter.
SECURING ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION
Registering to vote should always be easy, but especially so in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Coalition Z has partnered with the Public Advocate’s Office, NYC Votes, and other youth-led political organizations like Yvote, Integrate NYC, and Next Gen Politics to lead to fight for Online Voter Registration in New York.
CAMPAIGN MATCHING INITIATIVE
Since 2016, Coalition Z has matched curious and eager young people with local and federal campaigns to volunteer or intern for. Coalition Z is able to match Generation Z with these political opportunities because of collaborations with campaigns including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign for Congress, Zohran Mamdani’s campaign for NY Assembly, and Andom Ghebreghiorgis’s campaign for Congress. If you are a campaign interested in getting involved, fill out this form.

We put together a Toolkit for Coalition Z members to reach out to their representatives and ask they sign the pledge. This can be found here.
STOP THE AHCA!
If the AHCA passed, Paul Ryan’s repeal and replace Obamacare bill, not only would millions of Americans loose healthcare but it would also cut protections for citizens with pre-existing conditions, billions from Medicaid, and Planned Parenthood’s budget. We compiled a list of actions to oppose this bill, which can be found here.
